MS1
I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. lajoie
Okay;first off, this idea is shamelessly stolen from the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour",but with a tweak or two. The idea was to use that phrase as a setup for a joke, but I'm taking it in a different direction.Basically, the goal is just to complete the sentence. In can be a joke,it can be an opinion,it can be what you consider a fact, but just finish the sentence, and prepare for debate/argument. . It's not intended to be a call-and-response type thread, just a little fun....because I fully expect the thread to be de-railed over and over....... I'll begin with... I believe the speed limit is only a suggestion. And I believe the fine you have to pay, after the cop pulls you over is: REALITY !
MS1
I would never get used to that. You do it Christmas Eve? The Christmas morning thing makes Santa seem real for kids. "Look at all this stuff! It wasn't here when we went to bed, where did it come from?" When they discover the milk and cookies they left out have disappeard, the case is closed. Since I stopped believeing in Santa (except for the Santa in all of us), I don't really care about when. It's not about when, it's about with. Since I stopped believeing in Santa (except for the Santa in all of us), I don't really care about when. It's not about when, it's about with. Since I never believed in Santa, it was easy to believe in other traditional way of delivering....well, when I was three. Then I told my parents that I'm not stupid..... Chien Noir
Santa doesn't have a tradition in our country. It's a cocacola advert figure anyway..
MS1
Yes. Since I never believed in Santa, it was easy to believe in other traditional way of delivering....well, when I was three. Then I told my parents that I'm not stupid..... Tell me about that, I'm curious. Ever heard of David Sedaris? He's an author and humorist. Here's a reading he did on a radio show of a piece about regional differences, including Christmas. BTW, the tongue is firmly in cheek here- Sedaris is an openly gay expat living in Paris with his husband. Not sure whoever made the video understood that. Best thing is to minimize the window and leave the sound on.
Chien Noir
Well can't speak for Kat but in our country, a common children's belief is that little baby Jesus delivers the gifts, even though Czech Rep. is mainly atheist country. brspled
I believe in love, friendship, respect, great sex, even after almost 27 years together....I believe in sunny days on the beach, good music on my stereo, my husband's fingers running through my hair, his lips on my neck, the wind blowing in my face, the rain watering my garden, the night bringing rest. I believe in my family, the beautiful story my husband and I have built together, that better days will come when we are having a bad one, I believe that my kids have grown to be amazing adults and I truly believe we will be happy forever. I like that, it's nice! Certainly puts Jesus more at the center of the holiday than he is here. Sometimes it seems he's almost an afterthought . . . .which suits me fine, being an agnostic. That is so beautiful brspled! It's lovely and so moving. I'm an eternal optimist and, like you, I believe that happiness can last forever and is transcendent. I believe in all of those things that you wrote and: My husband and I still laughing together like kids, staring into each other’s eyes and knowing what the other is feeling, our shared telepathic connection, my husband's way of looking at me and saying, any time or place, and for no special reason, “How come you’re so sexy?” I believe in the special little world that we've created with our shared language and secrets.
