I've chosen not to reproduce (some might say I'm doing the world a favor ). I want neither the responsibility for raising a child, nor do I want that child to feel obligated to feed me when I'm olde and falling apart. Hell, I'm still raising myself! It's an ongoing process. Anyway, that's just my personal decision. Thankfully, my mate feels the same way. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against parents who bring beautiful children into the world, filled with hope. I'm just not one of them.

I have nothing against anyone who wants to have a kid or not. It's perfectly fine.

Just pointing out that it could become a socio-economical problem in the future if the West, as a whole, doesn't keep up in births with the rest of the world

The human population is already well exceeding the planet's carrying capacity as it is. Engaging in a population cold-war will only hasten our demise.

I'm simply pointing out that the areas of the4 world that aren't doing so hot and are hotbeds for terrorism and radicalism (the Middle East, Africa, southern/southeastern Asia) are having 3x the number of kids the West is. If the West wants to remain as it is now and not fall behind, it better start getting more children. Thats all I'm saying.

All right, let me break it down for you. Most of Europe is becoming mroe and more socialistic is it not? They take lots of taxes from the people and give it back in the form of welfare. Well, their populations are getting older and older, and thus, the governments are inclined to pay for their drugs, which are becoming more and more expensive. With all the money that their governments are spending, they need to replenish the coffers. This would come from each enw generation. The young need to pay for the old, and they'll get the same treatment when they get older. Well, if your populations start literally decreasing (as in, familys average to just 3 people per family) the governments money decreases. If the populations don't pick up, the government goes bankrupt and then theirs a huge mess that needs cleaning up.

See, economically, the Western world cannot just stop reproducing like they have. They can't afford.

Plus it's a numbers game. We can have much more advanced weaponry all we want, but if we go to war against the whole friggin Middle East, we simply won't have the numbers in a few years. They're having wayy too many kids and if you arm em all...well you've got one hell of a problem, even with our weapons

If they didn't have such declining birth rates, age expectancy wouldn't be a problem.

You think the Middle East is all we'd be fighting?

Let's just say, hypothetically obviously, that World War III did break out. Let's say that Radical Islamic nations create their own group so to speak. Think about all those countries. It wouldn't be just an Arabian peninsula thing. Look at how many radical Islamic nations there are around the rest of the world! I mean, we'd have to fight in Saudi Arabia to Sudan to Somalia all the way to Pakistan. Hell, you could even argue some of southeastern Europe would join their side (Turkey I doubt would fight with rogue nations like that...they're pretty secular). That's hardly "regional"

And it's not really a matter of who wins...we'd all lose. If the West and Radical Islam went to war, I'm sure that China and related countries (North Korea, Vietnam, Russia, etc.) would jump on the bandwagon. Notice that China doesn't need a high birth/family ratio as it already holds 1/6 of us.
