redrum
Last week I got a letter from England stating that I had won (guaranteed) $100,000. They had even included a check in my name for $4,000 and I was supposed to cash it and then send them $2800 as a 'tax fee' or something like that. But they also said that I should call a number before acting on anything. So I called this number in England (with payed minutes) and a very pleasant sounding girl (recording) with an English accent came on to say: 'That number is no longer in use.' So the check had Bank Of America on it and when I took it to them (believe me I had no expectations) they told me it was all fraud. Fe,Fi,Fo,Fum.....I'm going to kick the hell out of some scamming Englishman!! I got the same type of scam from Craigslist and it was from Holland. Fe,Fi,Fo,Fum....I'm also going to kick the hell out of a Dutchman.

manderlyh
I can't even begin to say where these types of scams end! I got one a few years ago threatening if I didn't fill out a credit card application (regardless of whether I wanted it), it would be the same as my giving the "card company" permission to open an account in my name! Not to mention that it would charge something ludicrous like $3k for a yearly membership fee. That one freaked me out. I put it in a file folder in my filing cabinent and kept it tucked away, just in case I'd let my information leak anyway. I never got anything from them again. Buttholes. Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
Sheesh! All this sounds so familar! I have got 1000s of emails pertaining to "business propositions" (which involve the transfer of 1000s of $ into my bank account! ) or crap like "Congratulations! Your email-id has been selected as the lucky winner of $50,000!") But this email that I got last week, is literally the icing on the cake! It was from a company selling Viagra online (yep! you read that right!)....That company sent me a message asking me to purchase it and avail of a 75% discount and be a sure-fire winner in their annual cash prize draw where the winner gets to win US $20,000! And I am not even a man! I am a 22 year old female college student! Why the f*ck do I even need that sh*t? They sure got the demographics wrong! :hysterical: Edited August 1, 2010 by Kiwi_Zep_Fan87

My sister-in-law's email account was hacked once, and it sent me a TON of spam about how to obtain prescription drugs without a prescription. The way I knew it was spam and not her actually sending me a link to this? She's a registered nurse--she'd never say, "take these drugs without a prescription!" Well, maybe I had a teensy bit of expectations because it did sound very formal. Wouldn't you? Hell yeah you would. But sending the $2800 was the red flag. I've shopped at all those stores so that was a possibility. I've actually had some pretty good luck winning things throughout my life so I figure why not check it out at least? I also used a friend's calling card and the call only cost 10 cents a minute and I wasn't even on the phone for a minute. Fuck the lottery and the horses and I don't smoke crack. Electrophile
I get those spam emails all the time. Some of them are absolutely hilarious, especially when they're for things like Viagra (or other ED drugs), penis enlargement or prostate health check-ups. One time I got a spam email telling me that my former high school selected me as Alumni of the Year for the class of 1998. Which would have been nice, except I graduated in 2000. I posted a Facebook message about and quite a few actual graduates from the class of 1998 got a laugh out of it. They're basically unintentional comedy. redrum
But please be carefull with these scam artists I'm no fool. I remember one from way back in the 90's where you were supposed to send a bunch of people $1 each and they were supposed to 'respond in kind' by doing the same thing and then magically it would all snowball and you would start receiving thousands of letters with a dollar bill in each. Oh brother!
