Blabbermouth just posted the above - release date 10/23/09!

THEM CROOKED VULTURES: Debut Album Title, Release Date Revealed? - Aug. 5, 2009

According to what appears to be a promotional poster (see below) for the debut album from THEM CROOKED VULTURES, the new supergroup consisting of FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE singer/guitarist Josh Homme, the CD — titled "Never Deserved The Future" — will be released on October 23 via Interscope. However, it should be noted that October 23 is a Friday, which is not a day when albums are traditionally made available in the U.S. (most labels release new CDs in the U.S. on Tuesdays).

THEM CROOKED VULTURES will reportedly make its live debut this Sunday (August 9) at the tiny Metro club in Chicago as part of a Lollapalooza afterparty. An image promoting the event has surfaced on the eTix.com web site, with the image featuring a symbol that corresponds to each man in the group.

Tickets for the show go on sale Thursday (August 6) at 11:00 a.m. ET exclusively through eTix.

Lollapalooza takes place all weekend at Grant Park in downtown Chicago.

THEM CROOKED VULTURES has also now set up a bare bones web site with links to pages on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Rumors surfaced earlier this year that Grohl, Homme and Jones were jamming and recording together. The threesome are said to be finishing up their debut album, although a title and release date have yet to be announced.

Homme's wife, singer Brody Dalle, recently told Antiquiet, "I'm not at liberty to talk about it . . . but I think (the project) is pretty fucking amazing. Just beats and sounds like you've never heard before."

Homme, Grohl and John Paul Jones Set for Lollapalooza After Show

by Michael D. Ayers, N.Y. Billboard | August 04, 2009 6:52 EDT

While festival-goers in Chicago have a lot to look forward to at this upcoming weekend's Lollapalooza, the hottest ticket in town and possibly most anticipated act of all won't be at Grant Park. Them Crooked Vultures, a long-rumored collaboration between Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, Foo Fighter Dave Grohl and former Led Zeppelin multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones, is set to stage its first ever show at the celebrated rock club Metro.

Tickets will be on sale via Etix starting Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The show time is listed as 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.

Grohl revealed the idea four years ago in an interview with British music magazine Mojo, sayng only that he'd be on drums, with Homme and Jones on guitar and bass respectively. Antiquiet.com recently pressed Homme's wife for confirmation of the project and is reporting that the band is currently recording in Los Angeles.

Details about the hard rock supergroup's work are scant, but the lineage is quite clear. Jones and Grohl have worked together many times before, including two tracks on the Foo Fighters' 2005 release "In Your Honor" as well as joining the Foo Fighters on stage in June 2008 at Wembley Arena. Grohl lent his drumming talents to Queens of the Stone Age's 2002 release "Songs for The Deaf."

Lollapalooza 2009 kicks off this Friday (August 7) with Jane's Addiction, Tool, Depeche Mode, The Killers and Kings of Leon headlining throughout the weekend.

Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones Form Them Crooked Vultures, Schedule Chicago Show

Rolling Stone

8/5/09, 12:39 pm EST

Them Crooked Vultures — the long-rumored supergroup involving Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones — seems poised to finally make their grand entrance with a post-Lollapalooza show scheduled for August 9th at Chicago’s Metro. According to ETix, tickets for the concert go on sale Thursday, August 6th at 10 a.m. The band’s logo features the Foo’s “FF” insignia, John Paul Jones’ symbol from Led Zeppelin IV and the Queens’ infamous “Spermy Q.”

Antiquiet unearthed the possibility of the supergroup trio touring this year, citing quotes from Jones to a French journalist. Then Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes accidentally let slip the band’s moniker during an interview with a Winnipeg radio station. According to a 2005 interview with Mojo, Grohl said, “The next project that I’m trying to initiate involves me on drums, Josh Homme on guitar, and John Paul Jones playing bass. That’s the next album. That wouldn’t suck.” It took four years, but it looks like the supergroup has finally arrived, as evidenced by an official Website that has popped up over the past few days.

Entering your e-mail at the Them Crooked Vultures official Website only opens a passage way to access the band’s Twitter, MySpace and Facebook pages, and right now all three only link back to the official site, so there’s not much information to be had. However, the MySpace page confirms the involvement of Homme, Grohl and Jones under the “Band Members” listing. All three pages were created on August 1st. No other details — including song samples or who will handle the lead vocals — are known, but we’ll find out all at midnight on August 9th at Chicago’s Metro.

Just last week Rock Daily asked our readers to tell us their favorite supergroups, with Cream topping the list. With Them Crooked Vultures set to make their debut, the topography of the Readers’ Rock List might be shaken up substantially.

Them Crooked Vultures Sell Out in Three Minutes

By Jim DeRogatis Chicago Sun-Times August 6, 2009

The show that has quickly become the buzz of Lollapalooza 2009--though it is not taking place in Grant Park and requires a separate ticket--the debut of Them Crooked Vultures, a new supergroup featuring Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and the mighty John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin--sold out in three minutes Thursday morning when tickets went on sale for its 11:59 p.m. show Sunday at Metro.

A spokesman for the group advises: "They're doing paperless [tickets], so no scalpers. Make sure your readers know not to get ripped off!"

No word on how many tickets to the Metro show were sold, but capacity at the venerated North Side club is 1,100.

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone.com is reporting that the band will release an album entitled

"Never Deserved the Future" on Oct. 23.

Them Crooked Vultures Announce Debut “Never Deserved the Future”

Rolling Stone.com 8/6/09, 1:49 pm EST

It’s looking like Them Crooked Vultures — a supergroup of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones — will release their debut album, possibly titled Never Deserved the Future, on October 23rd. That date first popped on a promotional poster, Antiquiet reports, but now there’s a a pair of viral videos on YouTube that include 39 seconds of background rock, giving fans a taste of what they can expect from the long-in-the-works project — that is, if the video is legit. A flurry of Web chatter claims the pair of videos released on a YouTube channel seemingly belonging to the project is in fact fake.

As Rock Daily reported yesterday, the band will make its live debut with a post-Lollapalooza performance at Chicago’s Metro on August 9th. Tickets for the show went on sale this morning. The band’s recently launched official Website currently just links fans to the band’s Twitter, Facebook and MySpace pages, which in turn just link fans back to the official Website.

“On October 23rd, the Devil will be happy. Finally!,” the video above states. Seems like Them Crooked Vultures (or somebody pulling a decent prank) have a Tenacious D thing going on, which isn’t surprising considering Grohl’s frequent involvement with the Jack Black and Kyle Gass musical comedy project. The promo poster uncovered by Antiquiet mentions the Interscope Website, but nothing concerning Them Crooked Vultures has yet been posted on the label’s site (Queens of the Stone Age are on the Interscope roster). Still no word on who will handle lead vocals for the Vultures, but all will be revealed on August 9th.
