Strider
I have gone to a bunch of movies over the past couple of months. But only one involved someone who has actually gone into space. The William Shatner Marathon at Beyond Fest Sunday October 9. William Shatner is 91 but you would not know it from the spitfire-form he showed during the closing Q & A after the three films. New 4K restoration of "Impulse". Truly a fun day. Spiders, Ernest Borgnine as the devil, and Odd-Job.

Strider
Took my nephew to this double-feature at the Cinematheque yesterday. Both on 35mm film. The print of "Frankenstein" had the scene restored where Frankenstein tosses the girl in the lake.

Orange Grove in Hollywood in between Sunset Blvd. and Hollywood Blvd. It's one of the streets John Carpenter filmed "Halloween". The top photo is looking north towards Hollywood Blvd. with the Wallace house on the left and the Doyle house off to the right. The first house (middle photo) is the Doyle house, where Laurie Strode babysits Tommy Doyle. The bottom photo is where Laurie's friend Annie was babysitting Lindsey Wallace. The later owners of the Wallace house replaced the open carport with an enclosed garage on the left side. But the porch is the same and the tree where Michael Myers lurked is still there. It's a trip to go there on Halloween and watch the trick or treaters. Most seem to know the history of the street but some are unaware. Strider
The town of "Haddonfield, Illinois" in "Halloween" was mostly filmed in Pasadena, Burbank, and Hollywood. They had to scout locations that had no palm trees. The Michael Myers house still exists in Pasadena...narrowly saved from the wrecking ball. The hardware store building is still there but it is a different business now. The Doyle house is at 1530 N. Orange Grove. Seen here in the movie. The Wallace house is at 1537 N. Orange Grove. He supposedly had terminal cancer. Said his brother John and Frank Morris passed away post 2000. They have given the letter some credibility. No way did they drown. I will never believe that. .Like one guy said, if 3 drown, at least one body is going to wash up. There is evidence that they made it to Angel Island. And I guess its very easy then to the main land. Getting out of that area back then in those cars and only 10 cent pay phones all over is an entire different ball game than the world we now live in. Much easier to get away back then I think. The cops had no tracking technology like they do now. While we are talking about old cold cases, are you familiar with the case in France of Xavuer Dupont De Ligonnes? Guy that murdered his entire family in Nantes, then was last seen near Nice leaving a hotel with a 22 rifle that was what he used. Sort of like the John List murders of 1971. Big story in France. The best special on it is the recent release of Unsolved Mysteries that used to be hosted by the late Stack.
