bigzepfan
Ross is a dirtbag. What a horrible thing to say about this venture. If you like the idea-great. If you don't -fine, no problem. but to accuse jason of this is pitiful to say the least.
slave to zep
i think ross wants us all to talk about him. ok, i will. you're a total jerk for saying that ross. grow up and learn to be appropriate ( just every now and then would be nice! ) john probably is turning in his grave to think that jimmy has a "friend" like you. no wonder robert dislikes you! and hey ross, do you REALLY have to say jimmy PAGE and i went shopping, jimmy PAGE and i had lunch .. etc etc ? if he is such a mate, just call him jimmy. name dropper. chimp
Everyone has to earn a living I suppose, lets face it, in years to come all there will be is tribute bands for all the old rock bands, so fair play, I can't ever see any real led Zep gigs again due to one person. Ross Halfin is entitled to his own opinion, he is also a mate of jimmy, so I wonder whether Jimmy has said as much?

Deborah J
I could personally care less what the man has to say, but to put in his diary what he stated about Jason is completely uncalled for, tasteless and shows no class. snapper
Halfins a prick, no doubt about it. Not because of what he said, but how he said it. I personally don't think Jason should be using the name Led Zeppelin in order to sell this tour, or anything else for that matter. What he should really call it is The Jason Bonham Experience, cause' thats pretty much what he has said it will be. Ya know, I have entertained the thought that the reason things didn't work out between Page Jones & Bonham was because of Jason, not because they couldn't find a singer. And after what just happened with Black Country, and now Jason all of sudden putting this Zeppelin tribute thing together, I don't know man. Maybe Halfin isn't that far off the mark, I mean, he does know these people quite well. Edited May 11, 2010 by snapper

Knebby
Ross Halfin is entitled to his own opinion, he is also a mate of jimmy, so I wonder whether Jimmy has said as much? IMHO this is a dangerous way to think. Ross very clearly speaks for himself and hasn't been appointed as Jimmy's spokesperson. Plus, Jason would need the permission of the other band members to do this. It's also dangerous to start questioning Jason's character because of something vile that Halfin has said. Jason's a great character and a lovely person - not without fault, like all of us, but certainly NOT responsible for the lack of activity between he, Page, Jones and Plant - and I'll happily stand 100 % behind that. Slave To Zep - you make a great point about the name-dropping re "Jimmy Page" and not just "Jimmy". I had friends who were forever talking about their socialising with a famous DJ's wife - but they never called her by her name in these stories, she was always "Blah blah's wife" - it struck me that their friendship wasn't worth a lot. *spelling - again Edited May 11, 2010 by Knebby
SteveAJones
I can't even get through this without a few tears... Oh good grief. If this were a Wham reunion tour I could understand the emotion but really now!
tom kid
Oh good grief. If this were a Wham reunion tour I could understand the emotion but really now! Haha yeah, agreed. Personally this sounds pretty cool, bet it won't come to New Zealand though . And also, I couldn't really care less what Halfin has to say. Not worth mine or anyone elses time getting hung up about what he is saying. The way I see it is that the guy is just craving attention and he has stated his opinion on 'fan sites' numerous time. He full well knows that people from this board and others are going to read that entry in his blog. He is just after a reaction imo, how this gives him satisfaction I don't know. Anyway, that's my $0.02 Edited May 11, 2010 by tom kid

Deborah J
Oh good grief. If this were a Wham reunion tour I could understand the emotion but really now! Cute Yes, just to listen to that tribute on You Tube gets me emotional. All I have to say is if I am sitting there...my tears will fall like rain. In regards to RH comments- this only goes to show that money does not buy class. That's my opinion and I am sticking to it..and I will no longer purchase anything with his name attached to it. I still cannot believe he stated this about Jason
annam
I've seen Flowerstone two times, 2009 july and august, the public was evry time made of great Led Zeppelin fans, and evrybody was jumping and singing, and they look very "zepy" even with their own dresses. - to Annam: if I can, I will go to Jason's show whoever he plays with, I'm sure he will choose good musicians! yes you are right, surely Jason will play only with good musicians... only I wonder if he will play in Italy or not...I think it's not so easy...for now I'll search for a Flowerstone concert....let me se if they will play on summer..... bye bye

Well said, Slave to Zep. If RH didn't make constant references to Jimmy, would any of us read his diary? I think not. By referring to Jimmy, Ross makes sure that everyone remembers/knows his (Ross', that is) name. His reference to John Bonham turning in his grave is despicable and I only wish Mick Bonham were still around to put Ross right on that one. Bonzo would be proud that Jason has turned out to be a first class drummer. The new photos of Jimmy and Ozzy are mediocre - anyone with a decent camera and lighting could have set those up. Ross is lucky that over the years he has established contacts in the industry which get him access to well known musicians.

Thanks for clarifying, Kneb. It's easy to feel that when Ross slams Robert, or in this case Jason, he could be echoing things he heard from his pal Jimmy. It would be easy to make that leap, but I've been of the opinion that it would be wrong to make that leap. I do think there are still some stories to be told on the failure of the Page/Jones/Jason project to get off the ground. In Jimmy's recent interviews, he clearly states that Kennedy was brought in too early for his liking. Which made me think, "Why was he brought in if Jimmy didn't want a singer at that point?". I doubt Jimmy or Jones had even heard of Kennedy at that point. Why would Jason take the step of inviting a friend to sing with "Led Zeppelin" if Jimmy Page of all people wasn't ready for a vocalist's involvement? If Jason's father had tried a stunt like that Peter Grant would have reminded him who's the boss in no uncertain terms! Not asking for clarification, Knebby, just thinking out loud... Cool mstork - I couldn't give you clarification even if I wanted to - not my place and not equipped with all the info. You are absolutely right, there's a LOT of unanswered questions - and with three sides to every story, I don't know if we will ever get the answers we'd like. Or like the answers we get! bigstickbonzo
1. How is this a disservice to the legacy of the band if he's bringing that legacy to fans who want to continue sharing it amongst themselves. Calling it "Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience" is perfectly fine. After all, he is Bonzo Jr. and, by nearly all accounts, the rightful heir to the percussion throne for the group. 2. Who gives a flying fuck what Ross or anyone thinks for that matter. If he has the blessing of the boys, which I'm sure he does, than that's all that matters. Bonzo would want Jason to do what makes him happy, and I'll bet if Bonzo were still alive, he'd play alongside his son...and sock Ross in the face for saying such nonsense. MrZoSo
Lets put it this way...If "Bonzo Jr." were to pass away (God forbid, knock on wood and all that) Mr. Halfin would be the first one looking to cash in on the pictures he has taken. And you can take that to the bank Ross, you KFC luva.
