Rock Historian
WOW! I thought Roth's voice was kinda funny in this, but I can imagine VH recording this as a song, because it's sounds like their style back then. They totally originated it to their sound at the time. That's fuckin great! If you check out the one I posted - "The Rover", listen to the solo, it's killer too! Mattmc1973
Nothing rocks harder than watching Diamond Dave dance around 1920's-style. Also, I had a seizure watching it.

Deborah J
This is on my wall from my artist friend Jon Ross here in Atlanta. They took his music from the video (bummer), but I still think EVH is one of the best electric guitarist:-)
Jahfin
Van Halen to Perform at New York's Cafe Wha? This Thursday (Rolling Stone)
Jahfin
According to a recent Sammy Hagar interview, he said the new album is fleshed out recordings from some vintage Van Halen sessions. Curious to hear what the single sounds like which is supposed to drop sometime this month according to the Rolling Stone article.
Walter
You know Sammy isn't going to say ANYTHING good about DLR/VH. Who knows what this will sound like, but they were very good when I saw them on the '07 reunion tour! Way better than the VanHagar version, IMO. I hope they pop into Stern's studio while in NY! dazedcat
Still not sure whether to be very excited or very worried about this... I think it's like a bad car wreck that you see while driving by. You really don't want to look but you can't help yourself.

That reason alone makes me interested

Stryder1978
I was fortunate enough to see them 4 times between 1979 and 1982. Damn, they were great in the day! I even caught one of Eddie's guitar picks! Saw DLR solo in Texas back in 85-86. Zero interest in Van Hagar! Best Album: Debut without a doubt! Favorite member: DLR. Ego aside, he was an incredible frontman. And whoever said Eddie was over-rated.....you've got to be kidding me! Some of the greatest guitars in the world tried to copy his sound, style and especially his finger-tapping technique!

The Pagemeister
Very strange that Kool and The Gang are the opening act for most of this tour (including Philly) Most likely it was DLR's idea. They had a Reggae guy open show for the last VH tour.
Walter
I like the groove of that song, Major Major! Definitely sounds like some great classic VH rock 'n roll!! Can't wait to see them again in April when they come through town.....
Walter
Yes, I hope they make it over to Europe in the summer. They were never very generous to us with their touring schedules back in the day. Van Hagar probably toured here a lot, but I didn't give a shit about them after 1984. Walter, you should check out 'Warner Bros Demos', 'Zero Demos' or 'Gene Simmons Demos' if you want to hear some of the early unreleased stuff, and most of it's in very good releasable quality. There is some awesome early stuff, most of which I'd be happy to hear on the new album. It's also fun playing 'Spot the later song', cos they cannibalised quite a few of the early songs for later released stuff. 'Mean Street' for example is constructed from 2 early songs - She's The Woman above, and Voodoo Queen, IIRC. Will do! Later you can hear the basic riff from "Mean Street" in "Poundcake". I saw the Van Hagar version and it was very forgettable! He was a buffoon! Wolfie was laying down some nice bass lines in that song....can't wait to hear "Tattoo" next week. Jahfin
The "reggae guy" on Van Halen's last tour was Ky-Mani Marley, one of Bob Marley's many offspring. In regards to the unreleased material, Van Halen is one of only a handful of bands with a similar longevity that have never released a comprehensive box set. I'd love to see them put one out someday.
