Sox all the way??? You guys are real lucky the bugs showed up when they did cause we owned you last year!!!! And don't start with the 2004 crap either. you guys win 2 world series in 100 yrs and you think you have anything on us??? no way. plus both times you've won the Yankees have stolen your thunder. And thank God I don't live up there anymore. I couldn't take it anymore. You Sox fans are a whiney bunch.... :D:D

Oh boy. I really don't need to read diatribes about how much non-Yankees fans think our team stinks, so if you could not bait the non-Yankees fans, that would oh so appreciated.

And word to the wise, we haven't won shit in 7 years. Gloating about crap we did in the Clinton administration is no longer cool. Yankees fans are just as whiny, spoiled and elitist as Red Sox fans have become, no one fan base is better, classier or smarter than the other. I hate that shit.

no more whining the "wait til next year" saying is over! Having lived up here you should remember there are just as many Yankee fans up here as there are Red Sox. I go to Fenway often and it is amazing the Yankee hats you see.

I was at game 4 (2004) against the Yanks, a friggin Boston city worker was up on his street cleaner with his Yankee hat on (had some laughs with him).

Gotta love it

It's all in good fun... I grew up in Fenway Pahk!!!! Saw lots of good games there in the 80's. Love the interaction between both of our fan bases.

I grew up in Jersey and lived there until 7 months ago, which is basically the equivalent of purgatory for a Red Sox fan. The way I see it, I'm entitled to at least 30 years of payback for all the shite I endured from Yankee fans.

I intend to collect... :shifty:

Edit: Yankee fans still whining about the bugs :hysterical: (I look at it as "divine intervention")

wtf

according to the angels website, we've just got Torii Hunter.

Not a horrible move....but we need freakin Miguel Cabrera!

....wtf...

Definitely a nice move for the Angels. I know what you mean about OCab but you got Garland out of the deal and pitching is vital in the AL. I don't think the Angels are finished dealing yet either... They are going to be scary good in 08.

The worst part is that we cant stock up on Cabreras anymore, but we still have hope for Miguels (Tejada/Cabrera)

The Hunter signing easily was a piece of getting Miggy Cabrera there. It opens up the ability to deal Willets or Figgins in a package with some of that young talent (Adenhart? Mathis? Conger? Brandon Wood?)

Figgy is making some dough, they probably wouldnt want him. I'd give up anyone but Kendrick. I'd like to think we could replace Adenhart with Morales [Marlins could dig his versatility and the Cuba angle]. I dont think we have pitching guys in the minors other than Adenhart. Mathis would be tough too cause Napoli seems fragile.

Torii Hunter? He of the .334 OBP and .505 SLG last season? Hunter just fleeced the Angels out of a metric ton of money.

He'd have to be better than GMJr. If anything, this might geek GMJ up to be perform better for playing time. He's the 4th OF w/ rotating DH spot for Anderson/Guerrero unless a trade happens. As it stands, we'd have a fielding OF that would own.

Let the annual Hall of Fame debate begin!! Look at the section I bolded, there are a lot of guys in there who certainly belong in the Hall...and it reminds me of my biggest pet peeve- IF OZZIE SMITH BELONGS IN THE HALL OF FAME, THEN SO DOES ALAN TRAMMELL!!!

Tim Raines, David Justice head new Hall of Fame candidates

November 26, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) -- Tim Raines and David Justice head 11 first-time candidates on the baseball writers' 2008 Hall of Fame ballot, joining Mark McGwire, Rich Gossage, Jim Rice and 11 other holdovers.

McGwire, his candidacy hurt by suspicions of steroids use, was selected on just 23.5 percent of ballots when he was eligible for the first time in 2007.

When Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn were elected in January, Gossage fell 21 votes shy of the necessary 75 percent and Rice was 63 votes short.

Rice is on the ballot for the 14th time and Gossage for the ninth. Players can be on the Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot for up to 15 years.

Gossage's percentage increased from 64.6 in 2006 to 71.2 in 2007, while Rice's declined from 64.6 to 63.5. The highest percentage for a player who wasn't elected in a later year was 63.4 by Gil Hodges in 1983, his final time on the ballot.

Raines was a seven-time All-Star who played 23 seasons and batted .294 with 2,605 hits and 808 steals, fifth on the career list. He was the 1986 NL batting champion.

Justice was the 1990 NL Rookie of the Year and a three-time All-Star. He had a .279 average, 305 homers and 1,017 RBIs in 14 seasons.

Brady Anderson, Rod Beck, Shawon Dunston, Chuck Finley, Travis Fryman, Chuck Knoblauch, Robb Nen, Jose Rijo and Todd Stottlemyre also are first-time candidates. The five-year waiting rule was waived for Beck, who died June 23.

Other holdovers (with their 2007 vote percentages) include Andre Dawson (56.7), Bert Blyleven (47.7), Lee Smith (39.8), Jack Morris 202 (37.1), Tommy John (22.9), Dave Concepcion (13.6), Alan Trammell (13.4), Dave Parker (11.4), Don Mattingly (9.9), Dale Murphy (9.2) and Harold Baines (5.3).

Rijo retired after the 1995 season and appeared on the 2001 Hall ballot, when he received one vote. He then returned to the major leagues and pitched for Cincinnati in 2001 and 2002, making him eligible to go back on the ballot.

Reporters who have been in the BBWAA for 10 or more consecutive years are eligible to vote, and the totals will be announced Jan. 8. Rickey Henderson tops the players who will be eligible for the first time on the 2009 ballot.

Results of balloting for managers, umpires and executives by the newly reconstituted Veterans Committee will be announced Dec. 3 at the winter meetings.

Good to see some familiar faces over here!

I'm on the edge of my seat with the winter meetings coming up. Rumour has it, the A's could be putting some big names on the trading block. We definitely need another utility infielder what with all of Eric Chavez's surgeries (and in general being injury-prone) and especially since we let go of Marco Scutaro. We definitely have some holes to fill.

But you can never be sure what Billy Beane is going to do.

Matt, I just saw the picture of those stadium seats you got. Brilliant acquisition there!

Hey dig_zoso, good to see ya! Yeah, I was pumped to get the seats. I saw a post from someone on a Tigers board who said he went down to the stadium after the auction was over, and made some cash deals for some unsold stuff, then asked if he could go out on the field, and they let him! I was so jealous. If I'd known, I'd have done that myself!

Yeah, what an opportunity that would've been! Still, you take what you get, and you really got something fantastic.
