I was a Junior at Lynbrook High School, San Jose California when I went to see my Favorite Rock and Roll Group - Led Zeppelin, on Wednesday, September 2, 1970 in Oakland, CA US, at the Oakland Coliseum. Everything they played sounded better than their recordings. When Led Zeppelin started playing the Immigrant Song, I literally jumped out of my seat! September 7 sees a reissue of The Song Remains The Same, while an official 50th anniversary photo book will be released in October by Real Art Press. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones last played together at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in London in 2007 with Jason Bonham taking his late father John’s place behind the drum kit, but Plant has consistently distanced himself from further reunions in the past. His latest comments came in October last year, when he told the Daily Telegraph: “You can’t ever really go back. It’s tough enough repeating yourself with something that’s a year old, never mind 49 years old. I’ve got to keep moving.” Fleetwood Mac, meanwhile, parted ways with Lindsey Buckingham in April and brought in Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House leader Neil Finn. They’ll head out on a North American tour later this year, with dates planned into April 2019. In fact wasn’t it the Zeppelin performance at Bath that Eavis saw , which was the trigger for him to start putting on festivals? Synchronicity. I mean England are 8/1 to win the World Cup . I gather the running of the festival is split between Michael and Emily Eavis with Emily having increasing responsibility and booking of acts. Oddly enough I could see Mr Plant, Mr Page and Mr Jones playing just for Michael as his retirement gift at the end of festival get together that only the local village attends rather than the official festival. jsj Posted July 5, 2018 Share Posted July 5, 2018 despite the obvious barriers to this happening, like the band splitting up 38 years ago and Planty adamant pretty much ever since then that he doesn't want to revisit it, besides the extremely rare occasions. the other factor that is that I cant see Page agreeing to play this gig which goes out live in national tv. they'll be as rusty as hell and it'd be risky to try to regain any magic in front of tv cameras recording everything also tickets are very difficult to obtain and so it wouldn't really be a Zeppelin audience Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
