pottedplant
I am very happy for Tokyo, Steve. The city deserves this after all the problems they've had in Japan. I know they will put on a spectacular event.
Strider
Provided there is still a world in 2020. Or, to be more accurate, a world still inhabited by humans.

Reggie29
The money would be better spent fixing Fukushima rather than on the Olympics. The best city in the world? That's debateable.

So very true, Reggie. In fact, most "Best city/state/country'" statements are debatable at best, and a waste of time...best city in the world has already hosted the olympic games, in 2000 ..... ...however, I'll definitely take Sydney over Tokyo. Whoopie Cat
The best city in the world is indeed debatable and also very individually biased. You obviously know my preference However, I congratulate Tokyo on their winning bid for the 2010 Olympics.

TheZeppyWanderer
I was hoping they would get the nod - nothing against Madrid or Istanbul, I just think that Japan (overall) are in a much stronger position, and have a better CV than those two. Just don't hold the swimming events on the Fukushima coast okay ! KIDDING !
planted
~ It's official: the greatest city in the world will host the 2020 Olympic Games ~ Yay! Tokyo is on my bucket list. (Along with Rejyavik.)
SuperDave
Congrats to Tokyo on winning the bid and to you Steve, one of their highest profile residents! They made the best choice out of the three. Spain is practically bankrupt and there is too much turmoil with Turkey and that entire region with Syria etc. Security could be a big problem in Istanbul.
