The Dark Lord Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I agree with number 1 also, but I am concerned with their qualification to make the determination, given some of the crazy choices and placements in their list. Quote
clw Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Oh Love this,Zep should and s the best band ever!!! Quote
Bong-Man Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I've always argued that the Beatles were not the best band ever, but 11 better ?.....that's quite a stretch. Lennon & MacCartney were the best pop songwriting team ever....I don't know how anyone could even begin to dispute that (but surely someone will). Comparing bands from different eras and genres is next to impossible.....and where's Bachman Turner Overdrive on that list ? Quote
BlackDog71 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Interesting list. I don't agree with all of them, but I can't argue with #1. I love The Beatles though, so it doesn't matter to me in the end. Lists are usually a matter of opinion anyway. Quote
slave to zep Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 yeah, i only agree with #1 also. I am another Beatles fan..... never heard of #11 .... Quote
SozoZoso Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 A bit of a no-brainer for Led Zeppelin but I also never heard of number 11 Quote
The Only Way To Fly Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 ^ The Replacements were a GREAT band! You should def check them out! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Replacements_(band) Quote
Cecil. Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 As you get older, do music journalists spend more time making lists , than reporting about music? I had to google nunber 11. Quote
Strider Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I barely trust Fox with the news...I'm certainly not trusting them with music. Eleven bands better than the Beatles? Sounds like a desperate ploy to generate web traffic...witness the pleading at the end for people to write back. Of course with this Sunday being the 50th anniversary of the Beatles Ed Sullivan Show appearance, anything with Beatles in the title is going to get noticed. Cecil., you are so right...there are far too many lists. It's endless and endlessly annoying and cheap journalism. Actually, it doesn't even warrant the word 'journalism'. A robot could create these lists. Slightly sad but not surprised at all the people unaware of the Replacements. They ceased to exist around 1991, and their last truly good album was in 1987. Great band, but even in their 80s heyday they were small potatoes, known to a select and passionate few. Quote
Anjin-san Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Does anybody remember laughter? Quote
Led Dirigible Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Some of the choices on this list are flat out wrong. And why does The Band's entry just have a picture of Robbie Roberston from the '80s? Quote

I would definitely enjoy listening to music with you! Lock step agreement on the top five! (What? No Allman Brothers?) Quote
the chase Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I would definitely enjoy listening to music with you! Lock step agreement on the top five! (What? No Allman Brothers?) Thanks! Same here. That top 5 is pretty much set in stone. The Allman's are right up there. Now that you mention it.. Definitely in the top 25.. Any list you always have to leave a band you love out (or just forget).
