I am hoping that Steve or someone else here can please clarify where this pic was taken and when...there is a difference of opinion on the photo due to Robert's attire.

 Have exhausted myself trying to find the exact showl(?...'77)

Thank you for anyone 's help with this!!

Backstage at Madison Square Garden. June 10th, 1977.

The amateur video footage of the show has both Plant and Bonham in those exact outfits. Whereas this wouldn't normally be useful, since the band frequently wore the same outfits every few nights, this is the only known show where Plant wore that shirt or those pants. So, it pretty much makes it beyond reasonable doubt definite, especially since Bonham's outfit matches too.

Very nicely done; all I can add here is Robert wore that necklace on the USA '77 tour.

It's difficult to read phone number on the forklift in the low-resolution scan provided

but if legible the prefix could possibly be confirmed as a NYC number.

...Then, I guess this confirms the Location/Venue for Zep Photo that you earlier located by photographer George Desota in the Master Forum Zep Photo, Since the attire was worn only on one particular date.........

(The phone number, though, I was unsuccessful in reading in its' entirety).

Here are the matching photos from from the other thread:

...I'll add to it...the phone number appears at slight angle, initially I "thought" it was 0 in the middle, but you are correct, it is 676-1441, I examined it from bottom/side of screen with glare removed, and the solid number appears.....I second this.... Area Code for New York City is ofcourse (212)

ummm, no. See above ...trust me I know.

...well, I magnified the image, and the phone no. has now two possibilities ..

826-1971 Or 826-1941

You are right also, but back then it looks like area code 212 was in effect for New York...

...as for the words up top on the phone number...the last three are Mom......

Check out the DVD bootleg releases "Assemblage" on the Cosmic Energy label, or "Film Noir" on the Hercules label. There's only 3 minutes worth of the 6/10 show, and it's nothing pretty to look at. The fragments are synched with the audience audio from the show, though.

I posted this elsewhere but thought this might be a better place for it as Steve seems to be the master. As follows:

I'm slightly embarrassed to have to be asking this, as I know I should know what this is but I just can't put my finger on it, soooooo....

I was listening to the "Dazed & Confused" from the May 14, 1973 New Orleans show, and just after the call and response part of the solo, the band breaks into this jam that sounds like a song I have heard before...but I am drawing a blank after racking my brain all day.

To help out, I am specifically listening to Godfatherecords' "Drag Queen of New Orleans" boot, and the mystery jam lasts from approximately 21:00 to 21:35 of Dazed & Confused on Disc 2.

It sounds killer and I don't remember ever hearing the band play this jam in any other Dazed & Confused, but something about the jam suggests another song.

So if any of you out there have this show and can help identify the song this jam is based on, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I don't have this show with me to play through, but is it not Cream's 'Crossroads' ?

Edit: This from Otto Masson:

I am using a different bootleg for this show, but I just had a listen, and to me that passage sounds quite a bit like "Rollin' and Tumblin'". I am also hearing Jimmy quote "Crossroads" much earlier in the song, just before they do the San Francisco bit.

...Thank you for your willingness foremost to come up with this...initially I did have reasonable doubt that attire in question was also worn at Capital Centre, Landover May 28th or May 26th, 1977...

I also recall from Royal Orleans.Com...that Robert wore this Shiny attire at beginning months of the Tour...May somewhat qualifies...

The building scenario behind the picture in question can it be Capital Centre? Perhaps the Band is making a U-Turn....further, This is possibly the related picture/date....

Steve, I remember hearing or reading many years ago about a concert in either 75 or 77 that Zeppelin played with Lynyrd Skynyrd on the bill that Skynyrd absolutely blew Zeppelin away, much like Zeppelin did to other bands in their early days. Do you have anything in your archives that addresses this?

I'm almost positive that's a rumor. I don't think they ever played together. LS did see a Zep show at some point though. I remember reading that in a book about them.

Could be a rumor for sure. When i first heard about it, I think it was attributed to Ronnie VanZant.

Zooma,

No, this never happened. Led Zeppelin and Lynrd Skynyrd never shared the same bill.

Classic Rock Magazine has quote from Gary Roissiton from their Zepp special issue recently

"I saw Zeppelin live twice in Jacksonville Fl at the Jacksonville Mem Coliseum.

We had a band then. i think we were called Lynyrnd Skynrd but we could have still going by the name The One Percent. I rememer Jethro Tull opened for them and they were great. but eveyone kept in thier seats. When we saw Zeppelin they blew our minds because all of the girls ran up to the stage. Until then everybody stayed in their seats just to listen to bands. Zeppelin were just unbeleivable. They came out and played so good . Page broke out the violin bow and started going...[imitates sounds}. We thought that was so cool"

Thanks for this...clarifies Lynrd Skynrd members were ticket holders as opposed to having shared the bill with Led Zeppelin.

I was a kid up here in Iceland in the 1970's, so I didn't see these bands live. But as already pointed out they didn't ever share a bill. Skynyrd were however generally acknowledged as one of the best live bands around, and you can get at least some sense of that by watching this DVD:

Skynyrd_OMSC.jpg

Excellent playing, great songs, immense presence, even if none of them really moved around a lot - including Ronnie Van Zant. But it's hardly the kind of show that would have blown Zeppelin off stage, is it?

I'm thinking The Who maybe could have, but not many others. They stopped appearing on the same bill in 1969, even if they loved hanging out together. Probably it was a bit much for both bands appearing together on the same bill!!

It would be interesting to see some thoughts on that by some of the people that did actually experience their shows.

Here another from Gary in the issue

" We ran into Zeppelin at Hyatt house in LA. That's when everybody was drunk and partying and throwing TVs out the windows.{laughs}. It was crazy party, the whole floor would be partying.

Like the movie Almost Famous. We were in some room on that floor with everybody. We didn't meet them formally. We never got that close to them. We were younger than everyone and kind of in awe.We did see them inthe hotel comming in and out, getting into their limos. that was really exciting because we were fans. We didnt want to bother them and run up to them because they has so many fans around them. As a matter of fact Cameron Crowe was a friend of ours and was with us back in those days. He was amazed at it all. We were just kids"
