SteveAJones
I'd be interested to see and hear board member's ideas for their own Led Zeppelin Room, loosely defined as their ideal place within the home environment for enjoying the music of Led Zeppelin. It can exist now or simply come from within your own imagination. Some of the basics I'm looking for are general room dimensions and the overall theme of the space. For example, are you putting emphasis on your entire collection or just a few items of sentimental value? Is it intended to be exclusively for your use or is it a place for partying? Home theater incorporated into your design? What equipment would you choose? Just to clarify, this thread is about exploring the space... I've seen programs where certain fans of The King have basically built shrines to him. Some have been rooms while others have gone as far as building their own Graceland complete with TV and Jungle Rooms that are down to the T in comparison to the original. lzfan715
This is a great idea for a thread. I have no idea about dimensions though. So big. That's all I can tell you. I want the entire collection on display, with emphasis on the things with sentimental value. Like my orginal set of lps that my dad gave me. It wouldn't be just Zeppelin though, I'd have a space set aside for Janis. My system now would work, it's Pioneer. Turntable, 25 disc changer, equalizer, the power box. The speakers are probably about 3 feet tall. If it was possible I'd like a working and LOUD vintage system to complete the theme of the room. And a reel-to-reel player. A large flat screen tv with a dvd player for showings of footage. I'd go surround sound. My music itself would be stored like the following: Vinyl in old wine crates CD in those rotating cases Bootlegs on shelf to be displayed Blacklights and lava lamps are mandatory. Hardwood floor because I have a tendency to spill things so no carpet would be nice. People could come visit me but no partying because if you broke something I'd be after you. Oh yeah, and a computer for research and talking here. Unless you mean in the 70s when the boys were in their prime then I have a totally different idea. ally
Well the room would have to be of a comfortable size and would have to include : A fire place of some sort Limited collectables of excellent quality.... I hate clutter An upgraded computer with all the trimmings so I could tweak some items to my satisfaction A great surround speaker system to go with it...... feel free anybody to advise me on this one All in all ,I would want it to be a useable area that family and friends could also enjoy. Oh yes, There would have to be dash board bobble heads of each band member

Zepaholic
Well, let's take a 2-car garage that is already framed and drywalled for example(mine). Like many/most rooms, it has 4 walls. The members of LZ all have their own symbols, therefore i would utilize each wall for a seperate symbol. Wall on the left would start with Bonzo's symbol in the very middle, say 2ftx2ft with a collage of photo's surrounding it. Perhaps add some drum sticks and even a replica Ludwig kit. 52" Plasma on the wall where the garage doors USED to be is reserved for Jimmy's ZOSO above the tv with pics and memorabilia surrounding the symbol. A Martin acoustic on a stand in 1 corner and a Les Paul in the other. The other 2 walls are reserved for JPJ and RP, of course, with corresponding symbols...centered perfectly with the others. On the ceiling i would have an 8x8 replica of your avatar. And that's just for starters... Thanks for the great idea.

zero
do the walls like the background of the fourth album with a replica of the painting from it hanging on it.
Evster2012
Being a musician in a band the does a Zep set... My ultimate room would be a pub/jam room. Full ale bar, couches and tables, and a stage. Classic Zeppelin photos blown up huge and made into wallpaper. A Zeppelin jukebox stocked with all the albums, solo work, Yardbirds and boots. Big screen TVs loaded with all the Zeppelin video. And pub food with dishes named in Zeppelin themes (mozzarella Four Sticks with marinara anyone?). And of course homebrews called Misty Mountain Hops IPA, Black Dog Stout, No Quarter Porter...you get the picture! Then there's the stage! Green sparkle Ludwig kit in Bonzo specs (of course, Amber Vistalites would be way too loud!), and all the other appropriate gear to recreate the MSG '73 stage (albeit on smaller scale) including the mirrors behind the backline. Oh and 4 symbols tile on the floor!! Angi and I have talked seriously about opening a Black Dog pub like this for a long time. Having it in my house...yeah baby!! Achillesfirststand
How about a big ole projection theater room with all the trimmings, and the piece de resistance, A signed O2 arena poster by the boys. Oh, and one more thing, asking Mr. Jimmy to get his feet off my table!!!
zepyep
Hi all, Steve,.......I'd like/want that first room they played in,Chinatown,London.Nothing special right? And may I add it won't be a Zep room,it would be the "No-name-room-if- it -works room." Rickenbacker amps,a Jeff Beck gift in the corner,JPJ poster, smoking a pipe and slippers.Copies of the telegrams,Peter and Jimmy sent to JHB as coasters. Then enter and seeing the looks,.....as you are stomped by "Train kept a rollin' Sweet,IMVHO! Ev,you bringing the beer? I'll try and find some pipeweed! KB
The Bomber
Ev!Your bar should be called the House Of The Holy or Bron-Yr-Aur!And as for food, meal deas on Tea For One,Custard Pie,complementary Tangerines, and lots of Lemonade! (It's not quite beer but the LZ reference is too good to miss) You're ok no matter what you give for food as long as its not Black Dog or Moby Dick! (You can give spotted dick, but no whale meat) Oh god, can't i make this easier and just take a house to do this? No?Well alright then,my House Of The Holy would be as follows,i need: A large room,2 rooms with the wall between removed or ideally one room 2 stories tall A good sound system with the complete discography on cd,all the albums, live albums, solo albums,pre/post zep albums, bootlegs, and the rare studio scraps that weren't even released on Coda. A stage complete with dry ice and lights and as Ev said, everything you need to recreate the MSG gig on a smaller scale A massive tv playing concert footage,TSRTS,DVD,interviews,Death Wish II,Almost Famous, A rack of Guitars,Gibson Les Pauls,Gibson EDS 1275,Fender Telecasters,Danelectro's,Martin Accoustics, basically replica's of all the guitars Page played hooked up to a big ol' Marshall amp stack and at least one guitar signed by Page 1 Of every instrument JPJ was able to play,to show how many he could play A replica of Bonzo's kit A replica painting of the one on LZ IV with the old man (See my av) Some kind of timeline Lots of pictures & posters A GIANT picture of a Zeppelin (Ideally the Graff or Hindenburg) on the roof Plants jeans from TSRTS A little replica of the statue from presence in the middle of it An in door that says "out" on it And finally: $$$ Downstairs is the stage, the statue, the TV,the "out" door, posters, theres a Stairs to Heaven as well, the timeline, the Sound System, the party place, upstairs is the museum kind of thing,at the top of the stairway you have the hermit, there's the painting,etc... Each wall has one band members symbol on it and is a shrine to them,Bonzos has the drums, some vodka, pictures, trivia, and a short bio,etc... Plant has the jeans, lyrics, timeline, quotes,a bio,pics,trivia,etc... Page has A big Guitar rack, the amp stack,info,bio,quotes,trivia,timeline,quizzes,polls,pics,etc... JPJ has one of every instrument he can play, quotes, bio, trivia, timeline, pics etc... Unfortunately Peter Grant holds No Quarter here but that's the way. The Bomber
Ev,you need a sign "And if you feel that you can't go on"... near the toilet, the opening from ITL!And another sign saying "What Is And What Should Never Be"... over a puking bucket in the corner. Pb Derigable
A open garage on a sunny day with an old 2x150 watt HI-Fi Technics Stereo with matching turntable. A set of Kenwood speakers with the 15in woofers. A beer in my right hand and Acoustic Guitar (preferably shitty) in my left. and a stack of Zeppelin Vinyls at my feet. and the three B's Beer, Bud, and Buddy (or Bitch). Do you really need anything more. Thats how they did it in the 70's. IF it was good enough for my father, it's good enogh for me.
alwizard03
I have been told by my wife i can not have a Zeppelin Room well heres the reason i have a house that looks quite a bit like the Rock and roll Hall of fame .Some say its tacky. Some say i should charge admission. But Zep is scattered all through the house. My ideal Zep room would be the size of the Beau Rivage casinos theater were Robert played in 2005 with Zep on stage and about 1000 fans and friends all from this forum. LET IT BE WRITTEN LET IT BE DONE
Alessandra
simple! SuperDave
Here's a few ideas for you Steve. How about some memorabilia from some of Zep's famous stays including The Edgewater Inn and The Continental Hyatt House. Not sure how you could locate these things, but since it seems you're well connected, I have faith in you. Other good ones would be from the Royal Orleans and from their stays in Japan where they caused quite a ruckus. Another piece for the room would be the perfectly suitable shark tank. No Led Zeppelin room would be complete without it. Comes with complimentary fishing poles and a years supply of bait.
