tell me what is your favourite lyric, out of the the songs Led Zeppelin wrote, I was looking at the words of some of the songs last evening, and was chatting with friends, all sorts came up,so we had a debate to find out which ones or solo one, they liked best, mine was:

From Stairway to Heaven.

With a word she can get what she came for.

I also like Speak to me only with your eyes, but I said only one. LOL :D

There are so many great lines but I think the one that stands out the most is

Going to California

Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,

Telling myself its not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.

I used to think it was

Going to California

Standing on my heels at my mountain of dreams,

Telling myself its not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.

I thought this was cool because if you are on your heels then you're obviously looking up...at the mountain...*sigh*

ALS has great lyrics overall but my favorite lines are

"To seek the man whose pointing hand, The giant step unfolds

With guidance from the curving path, That churns up into stone"

and

"Days went by when you and I, bathed in eternal summers glow

As far away and distant, Our mutual child did grow"

From TYG

Did you ever need somebody and really need 'em bad,

did you ever really want somebody,

the best stuff you ever had.

Did you ever remember me baby,

did it feel so good,

'cause it was just the first time,

and you knew you would.

From Tangerine

Iwas her love,

She was my queen,

and now a thousand years between.

Also from Tangerine

And I do.

After Plant sings "And I do" Pages solo comes in and it is so hauntingly chilling, I get goose bumps even when I hear it in my mind.

my favourite line from led zeppeling wou have to be "And as we wind on down the road

Our shadows taller than our soul" from stairway to heaven

"I saw a lion he was standing alone with a tadpole in a jar" always makes me smile :D

"Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear " *shiver*

I wonder what Robert meant when he said in the Tangerin song who is his queen?

With guidance from the curving path, That churns up into stone

It's "Guide us from the curving path that turns our feet to stone." :) (Hey, no problem. I'm here to help. Or something.)

To me, Plant's most amazing lyrics are heard in one of the band's most underrated songs (along with one of Bonzo's most powerful rhythmic parts), "Carouselambra." It's clear that the words are about Zeppelin's tours and the things they got away with, at least at first; but I wonder who they're meant for, especially considering the questions later in the song. Plant has mentioned that they were written with someone in mind, but wouldn't say who.

Sisters of the way-side biding time in quiet peace

await their place within the ring of calm

Still stand to turn in seconds of release

Await the call they know may never come

In times of lightness, no intruder dared upon

to jeopardize the course, upset the run

All was joy and hands were raised towards the sun

as love in the halls of plenty overrun

Still in their bliss unchallenged

Mighty feasts, unending dances shadowed on the day

Within the wall, their daunting, formless keep

preserved the joy that kept their doubts at bay

Faceless legions stood in readiness to weep

Just turn a coin, bring order to the fray

and everything is soon no sooner thought than deed

but no one seemed to question in any way

How keen the storied hunter's eye prevails upon the land

to seek the unsuspecting and the weak

and powerless the fabled sat, too smug to lift a hand

toward the foe that threatened them from the deep

Who cares to dry the cheeks of those who saddened stand

adrift upon a sea of futile speech

and throw the bane and make a stage as planned

There's no fair memory we cannot reach

Where was your word, where did you go

Where was your helping, where was your bow

Dulled is the armor, cold is the day

Hard was the journey, dark was the way

I heard the word, I couldn't stay

I couldn't stand it another day

Touched by the timely calling

Roused from the keeper's sleep

Release the grip, throw down the key

Held now within the knowing

Rest now within the beat

Take of the fruit but guard the seed

When I was younger I loved this line from Houses of the Holy:

Are you dizzy when you're stoned

Let the music be your master

Will you heed the master's call

Being a "Lord of the Rings" fan, from The Battle of Evermore:

The pain of war cannot exceed

The woe of aftermath,

The drums will shake the castle wall,

The ring wraiths ride in black,

Ride on.

and from Ramble On:

T'was in the darkest depth of Mordor

I met a girl so fair,

But gollum, the evil one crept up

And slipped away with her.

Well, it's hard to pick one, but I've always loved "I saw a lion he was standing alone with a tadpole in a jar." Difficult for me to comprehend what kind of medication Robert Plant was on to come up with that one.

Another favorite: "Soul of a woman was created below." Won't make my wife happy, but sometimes you gots to call a spade a spade.

this is agony trying to choose. I can't narrow it down to one...

Heartbreaker:

Well, it's been ten years and maybe more since I first set eyes on you.

The best years of my life gone by, here I am alone and blue.

Some people cry and some people die by the wicked ways of love;

But I'll just keep on rollin' along with the grace of the Lord above."

Immigrant Song:

Ah, ah,

We come from the land of the ice and snow,

From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,

To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

When the Levee Breaks:

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, [X2]

When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, [X2]

Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,

Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

^^ mind you to save time I copied that in from a lyric site so if something's wrong it's only my fault for having missed it!!

I also love every lyric from Stairway to Heaven, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Achilles Last Stand

Way down in East End London

past the river streams

they held an event

wasn't what it seemed

Kin folk come from miles around

'bout eight o'clock didn't hear no sound

oh no

Where'd Ronnie go?

oh no

Where'd Ronnie go?

oh no Where'd Ronnie go?

well he was here just a minute ago

but he's gone ain't gonna show

oh no

Where'd Ronnie go?

"Where'd Ronnie Go" from Led Zeppelin's forthcoming album "Straight Outta Compton"

That's The Way

And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers,

But all that lives is born to die.

And so I say to you that nothing really matters,

And all you do is stand and cry.

this one makes me sad,but i love the beauty in it!
