Then it's just a matter of putting the needle to the vinyl and using your finger to 'play' it backwards. Or if you had a reel to reel, you'd just turn the tape around. For a cassette tape, you could use an old multi-track and flip it upside down. Now-a-days, if you have any music editing software, it's pretty easy to do. However, if you listen to any of the bootleg live versions of the song backwards, the supposed messages are still there. I've always thought the entire "backward masking" theory was spurious because how can you hear it when it's played in normal fashion? What I do firmly believe is that Zeppelin (and many others) use subliminal tracks in their recordings. I think some guitar tracks especially are recorded at levels above/below conscious hearing levels, as well as some bass lines. I know Page layered many guitar tracks for the labyrinthine sound of cuts like Achilles' Last Stand and Carouselambra, but even so it would seem hard to imagine a full 48 tracks of different instruments/vocals/variations, unless an array of those tracks were subliminal. This is hard to fully explain without getting into religious sentiments, so I guess I'll drop it. But when you're buzzed, it's much easier to recognize.
