He was 63. Supposedly of asphyxiation. Discovered this morning just before noon. First reports were by Drudge Report and Hollywood Reporter. A had battled depression and sobriety problems over the last few years! So sad and such a loss with so much talent! Disco Duck
I wonder if it was an accident or intentional? No matter, it's a huge loss and not just for his loved ones. He was so talented.
apantherfrommd
Wow! Wouldn't have expected that. May Robin rest in peace.

Strider
I thought it might be a hoax upon first hearing the news. Very surprised indeed...he was the last guy I would think would kill himself. R.I.P.
paul carruthers
Just goes to show--you never know what kind of demons someone may be struggling with behind closed doors. Depression and Robin Williams seems like such an odd combination... RIP
TypeO
Breaks my heart. One of my favorite comedians. His '78 Off The Wall on HBO remains one of the funniest hours ever captured on film. RIP.
SuperDave
RIP This must be #3 after James Garner and Casey Kasem. Not sure about that. Those two passed over three weeks ago. Usually, they are close in time. Doesn't matter really as losing Robin Williams is such a great loss and especially since he took his own life and the loved ones he left behind! How were things so bad that you can leave so much hurt to those who loved you so much? Doesn't make sense. This is too common of an occurrence with many celebrities and those who aren't! Strider
Thanks. I am so saddened by this. I grew up watchng Mork and Mindy. Me too. Seeing Robin Williams at the Universal Amphitheatre in 1979 (this must have been around the time of "Reality...What a Concept") was one of the funniest nights of my life. He'll firstly be remembered for his comedic skills and wacky comedies, naturally, but some of my most fondly remembered Robin Williams films are the quieter offbeat ones like "Moscow on the Hudson" and "The World According to Garp". SuperDave
Forgot about "Garp" Strider. That's a good one. Always liked "The Birdcage" with Nathan Lane as well. One of his best moments.

LedZeppfan77
This is terrible news. I liked him so much and having had to deal with suicide in our own family it really hits home

LedZeppfan77
Phillip Seymour Hoffman had just shocked the world and now this. I guess you can have all the money in the world and still not be happy in your life. Treating depression is a very tough thing to do right.
