BonzoEqualsGoodStuff
The snow has departed and left us with lots and lots of ice. People slid all the way to classes this morning, whether they were in a car or on feet. I only had to walk about 200 feet to my class and I nearly fell a good five times. I'm so graceful. manderlyh
Yuck. All the public schools, K-12 canceled classes today in the valley. Thank God that the ice is melting. It took me about thirty minutes longer to get to a doctor's appt. than I had anticipated. Good thing the doctor was running behind.
manderlyh
BTW--we're supposed to get at least another inch today. LOL From Idaho Statesman.com: For instance, Boise saw 1.9 inches of snowfall in January 2007. This year, the number is 11.2 inches through Jan. 30 and counting. And the 30-year-average for January is 4.2 inches. Similarly, the overall snowfall accumulation in the Boise area for the winter is way ahead of the average. Through Jan. 30, 20.4 inches of snow have fallen this winter
mordor_maiden
Here in South Texas its mid-fifties and sunny. Going to get warmer over then next week tho. Weird out here-it's been pretty cold (for here) the last 6 weeks or so, when it's usually in the low 70s or high 60s. We typically wear shorts on Christmas. February is our cold rainy month, and so far it's forecasted to be in the high 60s and sunny. Things are backwards and it bothers me.... SunChild
Right now, it's cold and getting cloudy, but there is some sun, yay! First time in feels like forever. On Tuesday though, my husband and I and many of our friends and co-workers got stuck in the little burg of Mammoth Lakes, when they closed the one and only highway out of town due to high winds, blowing snow, gigantic snow berms, ice, and white out conditions. The CHP tried to escort a group of 12 cars out, and 8 of 'em got into wrecks! And then the tow trucks got stuck, too. So everyone had to find a friend's place to stay overnight. (Partay time!) Anyway, here's a picture of Mt Morrison taken from the road on a windy day a week ago. Monday and Tuesday were like this times ten, with overcast skies: Brrrrrrr.... manderlyh
It's snowing here. I was wise enough to pack up all of my stuff for the day so I don't have to attempt to drive to and from campus twice. It's snowy and windy. I walked from one building to another (close buildings--not on opposite sides of campus), and my hair was soaked by the time I got to the liberal arts building. I'm sitting in here, taking refuge. I have until noon before I have to be anywhere. It's snowing quite a lot--good thing I parked in a parking garage today! No clearing snow off my car at 9pm tonight! BonzoEqualsGoodStuff
Yeah, the snow is ridiculous! Walking all the way back from the comm building nearly resulted in the loss of my digits from this wind chill. I need to get some gloves... and a snowmobile. Or of course a zamboni. manderlyh
ROFL I have snowmobiles! we could hit the connector at 60! Pink goggles too! I'm actually in the LA building right now. Have to work in the writing center at noon. I'm thinking of braving the 30 yards to get coffee at the library.
BonzoEqualsGoodStuff
Haha snowmobiles on the connector. That's a police chase scene waiting to happen. Let's do it! Anyway, I say walk to the library. At least it will be warm in there while you wait for coffee. Whenever I go in there, it's always like a sauna. I also braved the weather and went to the SUB for chicken strips. But for the next hald hour, I'm staying put. I'm hanging out in the writing center.
