ninelives
Right now I'm really getting a bang out of country singer Jason Aldean. His voice really livens up songs like "Hicktown" and "She's Country" that would otherwise be your standard Big & Rich type of fare that I would probably ignore. He makes them sound not quite so gimmicky and . Then there's the song "Johnny Cash," which sounds so much better than Tracy Byrd's version. He gives it a on-the-edge, desperate, vulnerable side that Byrd could never have gotten out of the song. Love it. For mainstream country, it's pretty damn good. Just thought I'd share that, even though probably nobody wants to hear about it (it's 2 am, what can I say?). I do - I'm always interested in checking out new artists
Footsteps of Dawn
I do - I'm always interested in checking out new artists Oh yay! That's nice of you to say. I always feel a little weird talking about country on a rock forum, considering it's one of those things like rap - you either love it or you hate it - so I'm glad I could actually be helpful. Oh yeah, and I'd just like to add that Ronnie Van Zant is the voice of my soul. His voice has the same effect on me as Hendrix playing the guitar. Sad I don't know what happened to the record
dirigible dave
Jahfin...that is cool, I have seen Pearl Jam Live once...Eddie is much to be admired for the same reasons as Jeff Buckely was...Eddie has tremendous respect for both The Who and Led Zeppelin... It is refreshing to see young musicians who value the work of their seniors.... I have had the pleasure of seeing Eddie live a few times and he never disapoints. mokarran
Can't think of a singer who I'd rather listen to more than Danny Bowes. Real talent + zero cliched rock star mentality = rare integrity indeed. No need to explain further - just listen. What a shame the greatest male voice around will not be heard after the summer, apart from perhaps an occasional guest appearance, while the airwaves will be filled with more famous yet far, far weaker talents. Stariway95
Jim Morrison from the Doors, because he is amazing on "the End". Robert Plant, nothing needs to be said. Bon Scott. AMAZING on the early albums.Kurt Cobain, simply because i love Nirvana. Same goes for Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell.

Charles J. White
Here is a partial list of some I enjoy, I generally prefer singers who have warm friendly natural sounding voices. Being able to wail at the top register doesn't normally impress me with some exceptions like Fred from Queen or Rob from Zeppelin. Frank Sinatra Mel Torme Dean Martin Harry Connick Jr Amanda Marshall Chad Kroeger Rod Stewart Art Alexakis Joe Elliott Jeff Martin Avril Lavigne Bono Billy Idol Richard Strange Gordie Johnson Courtney Love Michael Hutchence John Lennon Sass Jordan Billy Corgan Chuck D Robert Plant Freddy Mercury David Coverdale Joan Jett

No need to say sorry, you enjoy who you enjoy - it's all opinion after all. Peter was one of the greatest shows I have ever witnessed back in 90/91. Unfortunately was never able to see Freddy live, in person.

in_the_evening
Looks Like most of the bug names have already been covered, so I'll throw in a few that I didn't see covered very much. For me it's Dylan, esp his late 80s and early 90s period. His 60s and 70s goes without saying that some of it is total brilliance. In that same vein, Mark Knopfler has an amazing voice, and an ability to create such atmospheric music around it (check out "Mark Knopfler Seattle" on YouTube for his latest). Allison Kraus has one of the most beautiful female voices, such a range to it.
