And You Know How It Is? Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 BBC Version June 1969, hands down for me. "I got those West Bromwich Blues yeah, and not a single thing I can do, no...I guess I must be really hooked!" Quote
toutpleindamour Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 The version I wrote for the only eyes of my Queen Quote
chef free Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I've been enjoying the '80 tour versions. I like the short, tight arrangement. Frankfurt is "special". Quote
Strider Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Too, too many to list. But here's a baker's dozen of some of my favourites. January 9, 1970 RAH. March 7, 1970 Montreux. April 17, 1970 Memphis. Sept. 4, 1970 LA Forum. Sept. 19, 1970 Evening show MSG. Sept. 24, 1971 Tokyo. Sept. 29, 1971 Osaka. June 25, 1972 LA Forum. March 21, 1973 Hamburg. March 24, 1973 Offenburg. June 3, 1973 LA Forum. July 17, 1973 Seattle. June 30, 1980 Frankfurt. Quote
Sue Dounim Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 1970/09/04 1971/09/23 1973/07/29 1979/08/04 1980/06/30 1980/07/05 1980/07/07 Quote
ListenToThis Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Mannheim 1980/07/02 is actually quite good, the highlight of the show in my opinion. The ending is rather creative as well. Also rather partial to 1975/05/25. Quote
magerogue Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 The 1975 WLLs are special, it's just so cool the way they mixed WLL with Black Dog. I think that the Earls Court versions are my favorites because of Jimmy's tone. Quote
Mattmc1973 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) 8/23/71 in Fort Worth, TX. Just a scorching version. The unbalanced recording helps in this case, as the taper was in front of Jimmy's side and the guitar is very prominent in the tape. Blazing playing by Jimmy and Robert in very strong and high voice. Strider Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 ^^^ Good call! I had forgotten about this one when I made my list. If you like Jimmy you need to hear this one. Quote
manymanyman Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Is there a video of 20+ minutes WLL surfaces? Quote
nick2632 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 As far as the song WLL the studio will always be my favorite, but for live it's all about the melody which lacked in TSRTS but HTWWW was great and Southampton 73 is my favorite. Bonzo_fan Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 June 19, 1972 Seattle is pretty great too, was probably close to a half hour in length (27 minutes with a sizeable cut on the recording we have now). Like the rest of the show, if you can stomach the mediocre/poor recording it's well worth it. Quote

BlyZeppelinaren Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Same here! And it's 3h 12m with cuts! I think someone on here estimated it to be around 3 and a half hours without the cuts.... IN '72!!!! Quote
Sue Dounim Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I'm gonna stuff the ballot with extra votes for the version from 1970/09/19 (evening). Re-listening now, I forgot just how great the jams and interaction with the audience was. Quote
