Right! time for more man topics, let's not let spats take over this thread.

Summer's almost here, so how 'bout them barbecues?

What makes the barbecue such a great man tradition is that give you the chance to get your friends or family outdoors and in good spirits. A barbecue is more about the vibes than it is about the meat (although of course that too is important). Lets hear your tips, recommendations, necessities etc. What's it take for you to make it a great barbecue? Anything goes setups, recipes, vegitarian alternatives, gear, ambiance, you name it.

I'll start with one. I've got a gas grill. No lava rocks. I can't use charcoal because I live in a fire danger zone. I still long for the smoky flavor though. and wood chips don't work without the lava rocks. What I do is get a big chunk (2 or 3 inches)of mesqite and soak it. I lay it on top of the grill along the meat and that gives me just the right amount of smoke, just enough to flavor but not so much that people at your party can't breathe.

And another one... just two words. Green Onions.

Ahhh, I love a good barbecue. I use real coals (preferably Royal Oak) and alder sticks that I pick up around the mountains here. Makes for the perfect smoky flavor. Steak, chicken, ribs....it's all wonderful. Even an occasional hamburger tastes awfully good when grilled over the coals. :D

I have never cooked a barbecue myself but i love them. But my buddies do and When i lived with my cousin she would cook them all the time and an ex girlfriend would. Man oh Man. Nothing tastes better. One of my buddies has a back yard and the bunch of us would go and he would cook stuff up and we would pig out on big juicy steak and just talk about guy stuff as the sun was going down.

Here in Argentina we call it: Asado. And is not very much like barbecue, but both have almost the same reason to exist: Good Food, Good Drinks and Good Time.

I think I already talk ones about the Asado, and I think it was with Eternalight.

That's a pair of racks of lamb cooking upright there at the end righ? One of our family friends was from Argentina and he hosted a pretty big Asado at a nearby park once when I was just a teen. He cooked lamb in much the same way. I think he also used a foil reflector.

I took my acoustic guitar and the family asked what I could play, so I played "Over the Hills and Far Away" :D

Those are some wonderful cooking accessories.

I think marinading the meat is important. I like to mix a few ingredients together to make the marinade and then stir in some multi--seasoned salt. Let the meat soak in the goodness for a couple of hours refrigerated and then brush on the meat while grilling. The smell of that marinade mixed with the juice from the meat dripping into the open flame of the barbeque is exquisite. It is way more fun than cooking in a kitchen. I know it is immature, but I still think it is more fun to light a bunch of coals soaked in an excessive amount of charcoal lighter fluid than to just turn on a gas grill.

Unfortunately I now have a gas grill.

Optional but nonetheless fun cooking accessories: a couple of stogies and some bottled beer on ice.

When I make burgers on the grill, I like to mix a dash of Heinz 57 sauce into the pound of hamburger. But not too much or the burgers will be sloppy and fall apart. Makes them really yummy, though.

My dad makes the best lemon pepper chicken. He marinates the chicken in lemon juice, olive oil and salt and pepper and then right before he sticks them on the grill, he covers the chicken with lemon pepper seasoning.......so yummy.

I do almost the same thing, but use A1, it makes the burgers REALLY good.

I am surprised guys find drew hot. Her face is lopsided and she has this fake sunshine personality.

<_< Unless you've met her in person, you have only seen her when she's acting; so by defenition....

In any case, that kind of personality does seem put on, but that indicates a vulnerability that is endearing. Like during some private moment you would just want to hold her and tell her everything's going to be alright. (ahh movie fantasies lol)

I guess NASCAR is a man's topic, though it has plenty of female fans.

Just an FYI...

If you are already into NASCAR you probably already have someone to root for. If you don't and you find yourself watching a race you might consider rooting for the driver of the number 20 car, Tony Stewart.

An interviewer quizzed a bunch of drivers on who their favorite bands were and Tony Stewart said his was Led Zeppelin. "Theres a Led Zeppelin song for every kind mood you are in"
