nirvana
I read somewhere that Madonna (yes, the Material Girl) had a liking for Zeppelin and their music. And, Robert and Jimmy also had a "fondness" for the London-ite lady... Anyone know how true this is?
swandown
Check out the video of the 1995 American Music Awards, where JPJ accepts an award on behalf of the band. The camera pans to the crowd and you can see Madonna say to her friend, "Which one was he?"
Roxie
Aww poor Jonesy! I just bought tickets to Madonna today. But after that comment from her, I may have to return them.

The camera pans to the crowd and you can see Madonna say to her friend, "Which one was he?" Really!? That seems mighty ignorant of her IF she is a fan!! Let's face it, Robert and Jimmy are recognizable world-wide by every music fan and musician, Bonzo is no longer with us, so that leaves John Paul...by process of elimination she should have guessed - at the very least! Stunning....

The camera pans to the crowd and you can see Madonna say to her friend, "Which one was he?" He was the one who she asked to produce her album, and he said no... Lee
I saw Robert at Hammersmith Palais a few years back, and after a typical strenous performance he was puffing and panting a bit. He said something along the lines of "I bet Madonna doesn't get like this" (i.e. because she mimes). I like a couple of Madonna's songs, but hold a bit of a grudge against her...she pioneered the mega-expensive concert ticket a few years back, which was swiftly taken up by the Stones and a whole slew of other bands. Admittedly £125 for Zep last year wasn't cheap, but at least it was for charity. Her latest stitch-up is a top price of £160...for Wembley Stadium, not even for an 'intimate' gig. Given the current economic climate, I really hope this backfires on her, but I'm sure there will be thousands willing to shell out a day's wages or more just to see her from half a mile away.... super slinky
Wasn't there a story about Plant, Page and Clapton standing together backstage at Live Aid and Madonna came through escorted by her security guards? Apparently they were telling everyone to get out of their way and they got to the trio and said "move it guys, MADONNA'S coming through." Our heros all stood still and Clapton said "you must be joking."

Reggie29
Led Zeppelin would never be billed second to Madonna, period. She could only hope to be a back up singer / dancer for them. As if that was ever going to happen!
Gainsbarre
grrrrrrrr ah well i guess our great grandchildren wont be listening to "like a virgin" as they will be to our boys........... I somewhat respect Madonna though, because for someone who is obviously rather untalented, man, she's gotten bloody far... I mean she's gone from being a back-up dancer for Patrick Hernandez to the world's biggest selling female music artist...and she can't even really sing, she's an okay dancer, nothing special, you would never have said she was beautiful or sexy (smutty and slutty, for sure), she doesn't even really write her own music, or she's got a team of people to help her... The one thing she was good at though, was getting attention. And that paid off for her big time.

lucyinthesky
Madonna is the strangest phenomenon of pop culture. i mean, her music isn't exactly good ( we're talking about POP music...) and I thik she even cannot sing very good!
