Your dream Jimmy Page collaboration...

Recommended Posts

Steven Tyler after seeing Ross Haflin's pictures, or Ray Davis, Roy Harper, Jack White, Jeff Beck, Slash, Joe Perry, Donnavan, or Eric Clapton. I also half wish he could have worked with George Harrison, they were somewhat alike. To bad George is gone. It also would have been interesting if he could have worked with Viv Stanshall, too. Jimmy jammed with the Bonzos even at Thee Experiance, I think before Zep. Also Marianne Faithfull.

Let Daniel Lanois produce Jimmy's upcoming solo album and watch the sparks fly...

It was rumored for a while that Page would do a solo album with guest female singers. I've heard that Kate Bush's name was floated around...

That would be interesting.

I would prefer for Page to go left field and not team with the usual rock trash (Slash, Courtney Love, anyone from Jane's addiction or Van Halen).

I would prefer to see classier people like Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Brian Setzer in songs featuring with strings arrangements by a russian composer...

Just my 2 cents...

I would like to see him do a Santana-esque album, collaborations with lots of different musicians, vocalists, other guitarists, fiddler players, doesn't really matter, what a creative album it would be, a good way for him to come back, or like someone mentioned start a band with young new musicians, that'd be great, sortta like what Plant did with the Strange Sensation.

Sorry if this topic has been asked before but I am kind of new to this forum. Jimmy has always been known to collaborate with other music artists. Who do you want to see him collaborate with? They can be singers or other guitar players.

I want to see Jimmy collaborating with these following singers and guitarists:

SINGERS: David Bowie, Anthony Kiedis (Chilli Peppers), James Labrie (Dream Theatre), Eddie Vedder, Sheryl Crow

GUITARISTS: Jack White, Eric Clapton (again), John Fogerty, Eddie Van Halen, Slash

I listed Sheryl Crow in the singers 'cause I know Sheryl is such a huge Led Zeppelin fan and I can always see her singing over Jimmy's guitar playing. We all know she covered "Dyer Maker" for the Encominum. Sheryl and Jimmy would be a killer collaboration!

Name your choices!

1)I would love to hear him play blues with Buddy Guy

2) a mellow scorcher with Carlos Santana. (didnt he jam with lz in 1980??)

3) A rockabilly number with Brian setzer

4) A operetic number with brian May

5) a full on shred with joe satriani

6) a RAVE UP with Jeff beck

call me crazy, but I would love to hear him back-up Tom Jones (again)

like jeff beck did on that blues tv show.

Tom can really sing the blues!

Oh man, this is the way I think about it! He needs a REAL creative challenge.

No need to be logical since it's "dream collaboration", anything goes in your dreams.

Okay, if we're talking in your dreams, then I'd love to "collaborate" with Jimmy. I'm not talking in a musical sense, though ... ;) Jimena is one very lucky lady!

I would like to see Jimmy team up with a strong female singer along the lines of Sass Jordon , or Kate Bush (as mentioned previously). Any singer would have to be strong just to keep from being overshadowed by the guitar . I also would like to see Jimmy team up with David Coverdale again .

Jimmy and Joni Mitchell.

Unplugged.

When I read the title of this thread she was the first thing that came to mind: as he has been open with his admiration of her over the years.....it would be interesting even just one song ....I think Jimmys holding out for Robert maybe ?

Jimmy also played with Sheryl and others on an Elvis gig.

Elizabeth Fraser or Joni Mitchell would be great, probably my two favourite female singers.

Never got to see Joni play live, kind of hoping she might come out of retirement and do a few gigs for the hell of it.

I certainly think performing with Jeff Beck would push Jimmy to the max...and I don't think it's that far-fetched an idea for it to actually happen (again).

I would love to see him pop up at a show and jam out Comfortably Numb with Gilmour. I could imagine somethin in the style of a live No Quarter solo bein the perfect counterpoint to Gilmour's masterpiece.

Would love to see Page work with a more progressive minded drummer. Danny Carey would definitely be cool.

There's always been speculation that Jimmy did the Page/Coverdale collaboration in part to annoy Robert. Well, I was thinking, if Jimmy is in the mood to *really* annoy Robert [because of Mr. Plant allegedly being the sole hold-out on the Zep tour idea], may I suggest a collaboration with... Miss Shelby Lynne? She's a country singer, but a dangerous 'n smoky alternative to the girl-next-door sweetness of Allison Krauss.

Shelby and Jimmy could be an intriguing, dark duo. She's recorded with George Jones (Jimmy's a fan) and her most recent album is an homage to Dusty Springfield. She grew up in Jackson, Alabama. Her father, an abusive alcoholic, shot and killed her mother and then himself when Shelby was 17.

AND Shelby is not only a Zeppelin fan, she's in favor of old-school recording methods. She recently sang the praises of recording on 2" analogue tape rather than digital. One of her comments was:

"Tapes are not perfect like digital. If you want to sing the word 'love' 40 different times and 40 different ways, then digital's for you. Tape requires attention. You can't just push the space bar and go to lunch. For example: When I put on my vinyl (yes vinyl) of Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love,' my favorite part is towards the end when you hear the 'print through' of Robert's vocals. You know the part when he sings 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah'? For years, before I made records I thought that what I was hearing was on there on purpose, for effect."

"I was born in '68. Mama and Daddy had albums. I grew up listening to their vinyl. I have discovered that having a vinyl collection is so much cooler than having an iPod. Now, I have an iPod and I admit they are genius especially for travel and convenience. But they aren't really any fun. I don't call up my friends and say 'Hey why don't y'all come over and bring your computers and let's have a party?' Hell no! I say bring pot, wine and vinyl. That's sexy. It's really a great excuse to get together and listen to music."

She's easy on the eyes too:
