MisterMcLov1n Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Best: Achilles Last Stand (Frankfurt 1980), TSRTS (Listen to this Eddie, forgot date) Worst: Train KAR (all performances. Plant sounds like he forgot the lyrics) Quote

mos6507 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I haven't heard it but most say the performance of Levee in Chicago in 1975 was really bad. I guess they could never recreate the studio vibe of that song. Quote
bigstickbonzo Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 (edited) I have the Brussels 1/12/75 show and Levee isn't that good either. Plant's voice and Page's broken finger don't help. From What I've heard..and off the top of my head Best: Dazed and Confused 3/16/73 Heartbreaker 9/4/70 Moby Dick 7/27/73 The Ocean 7/29/73 Tangerine 9/29/71 Achilles Last Stand 6/21/80 The Song Remains the Same 6/21/77 I Can't Quit You Baby 1/9/70 Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp 6/25/72 Whole Lotta Love w/ Medley 6/27/72 Communication Breakdown 10/10/69 Stairway to Heaven (several before 75. Dr. Giggles Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Best live songs I've heard were: Stairway to Heaven - June 3, 1973 The Ocean - June 3, 1973 Heartbreaker - June 3, 1973 Whole Lotta Love - June 3, 1973. To be honest this to me was one of their finest performances ever. Wish they would release this show in its entirety if LZ even has it. Worst song ever for me: Hot Dog - 1980 (any version) just my opinion of course. Quote
EzyEric Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 (edited) Best: No Quarter (03-04-75, 03-27-75, 06-23-77) Worst: Hot Dog (song in general, not its performance) Songs I prefer studio version of: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (its just too good acoustic) Battle of Evermore (vocals couldnt be matched) Edited December 14, 2008 by EzyEric Quote

kakdaddy Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Ive listened to them & they bore me. Its like sex that really isnt going anywhere... for a long time. I'll skip ahead to the parts I like, for instance a long but enjoyable "No Quarter" that stimulates. No ADD, just know what I like. Quote

I think that and Kashmir are probably their best performed songs in 75 and after Quote
Zeppelin_2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Did they ever mess up in In My Time Of Dying? Not to my knowledge, they did a great live song of In My Time Of Dying at Earls Court. Quote
huw Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Oh and holy sh** how could I forget Live Aid as the worst live performance. There's a few out there that have Live Aid well & truely beaten. For starters does Tempe ring a bell? Quote
Electrophile Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Best: No Quarter, particularly in 1977. Worst: Moby Dick (sorry Bonzo, but long drum solos bore me). Agree on your worst, disagree on your best. For me, it was SIBLY in '72-'73. That's one of the few songs I think is better live than on record. Quote
2bitnogoodjive Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 best - most of 69-71 worst - 77 noise solo, 77 drum solo Quote
NickZepp Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) In the Evening never seemed right live. It seemed like the pacing was always off when they played it. I would say the same for Hot Dog but that never really fit with Zeppelin. That song was meant more to show their humor like D'yer Mak'er and probably shouldn't have been played live. Best live songs were Stairway, Dazed, Moby Dick/Drum Solo, Black Dog, Since I've Been Loving You, and Heartbreaker. I'm sure I forgot some. Edited December 23, 2008 by NickZepp Quote
McSeven Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Misty Mountain Hop Live sucks. No matter what era I hear it. It just sound sloppy. The studio one is the best. The Ocean sounds sexy live, the studio one sound light weight. Mc7 Quote

4urlife Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Best: No Quarter 73-75 Worst: In the Evening Funny about my choices... I absolutely hate the studio version of NQ, but the live versions always seem to be awesome (though they started getting a little too damn long). As for In the Evening, I love the studio version of this song, but every live version I've heard of it sounds hollow. Quote
