Dee Dee
^^^ Yes, Dee Dee, Neil Diamond still holds the record for most consecutive sell-outs at the Forum. Some ridiculous number like 12 or 14. He has a plaque in his honour outside the Forum. I posted a photo of it over in the Houses of the Holy(landmarks of Led Zeppelin) thread. I didn't see Neil Diamond at the Forum, but I did catch him at the Greek and you're right about the relationship between him and the audience. It was strangely entertaining and easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm. The last concert you went to was over 6 years ago? Yeah, and now I remember the reason why I went to see Neil Diamond was to take my friend for his birthday. He begged me to take him, so I did. reswati
Roadburn Afterburner festival with: Golden Void Electric Moon Astra Leprous (and Ihsahn) Neu! Sigh And some other ones I forgot. On the second film I can be spotted in the audience, right in the picture next to the man with the hat on, haha. Different angles of the same song

brasshat
Took my wife to see P!NK (yeah that's how she spells it). Actually she was excellent, a real rock chick!
TypeO
2 great shows in the past 5 days. First, saw Vintage Trouble at a local club here, Sky City Saturday night. Easily the best show I've ever seen in Augusta. If you haven't checked them out, they are amazing. http://youtu.be/ThZZnS4Jvwc Then last night, I got to see Alice In Chains at the Bell Auditorium, a rather cozy local venue. The new singer William Duvall is excellent, and very energetic. I never saw Layne Staley live, so it's easier for me to adapt to the new singer. I shot this iPhone vid of the last song of the main set - Would - and then the first song of the encore set - Man In The Box.
FireOpal
The reunited UK - to be honest, didn't know anything about the band though of course I know who John Wetton and Terry Bozzio are. Bozzio is an absolute monster on the drums, his solo gave me chills. He was very subtle, it wasn't just bash city. Terribly impressed with Eddie Jobson too. His electric violin solo was incredibly violent - it reminded me of Lord Page whipping his Les Paul with a violin bow; the effect was similar. tomloge
Saw Savoy Brown about 3 months ago. Disappointing. Their performance was great, but they only played 70 minutes. I've never seen them play such a short show. Usually they play one and a half to 2 hours. Big waste of time and money. I won't get screwed by them again. I've seen them around 15 times anyway. Walter
Rush last Sunday night. 5th time seeing them and they never disappoint! Geddy's voice got a bit hoarse by the end of the show, but he is over 60 now.... First set was not my fav. as they played quite a bit from the "synth years", compared to other shows before and after ours. The real highlight, for me, was the 2nd set when they played three-fourths of the new album, followed by some classics. Really love Clockwork Angels! They are so tight as a band too! Catch them, if you can!

ebk
Just came home from seeing Beth Hart at The Birchmere. First, on a totally shallow note, if I were not a married person, I'd be all over that... On a less shallow note, she can sing. Great evening.
Honeydrip79
I don't know how many metal heads are on here, but my last concert was Megadeth at the Midland Theater in KC, MO in November 2012. I was a little disappointed because they sounded very worn out and tired. I saw them in 2009 and it was amazing. I hope to be able to see Iron Maiden in September in KC. Would love to see Rush also. Strider
One of my most memorable shows was seeing Megadeth on the "Peace Sells" tour in 1988 at the Raymond Theatre in Pasadena...it was formerly known as Perkins Palace, and the concert venue is sadly now long gone. The mosh pit was so raging that this girl had her top and bra ripped to shreds, so I gave her my shirt to wear. After the show she asked if I wanted my shirt back but I told her to keep it. Saw the Rolling Stones at Staples Center last night...last show of LA and the California leg of the 50 and counting tour. I was ambivalent at best about going to see them this tour but now I'm glad I did.

Strider
The Black Angels @ The Mayan Theatre, May 21, 2013. A great show for a great low price of $23. Was right up near the stage, dead center. First opening band was Wall of Death, a psychedelic combo from France. Second band was Hanni El Khatib, merely okay. But the main event was Austin's finest, the Black Angels, and they delivered a great performance. Even better than the last time I saw them. They are touring Australia in June, then the UK and Europe this summer. I urge you to go. Some photos I took with my phone...

Strider
^^^ I did see that, TypeO...and I might just check that show out if possible. The BAs are also opening for Robert Plant at some of his shows this summer and playing the Austin City Limits Festival in October with the Cure and a cast of thousands. jb126
Beck July 26, Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) Providence Rhode Island The PPAC is a gorgeous old theatre in downtown providence built in 1928. Musicals, plays and concerts are performed there. Saturday night's show was both theater and a concert. Pleasantly surprised by Sean Lennon and his band "The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger". The guy can play. We would see him later a few times during the show. Photo below: Beck talked about stopping the Newport Folk Festival earlier in the day (about 30 miles South of Providence). Perhaps inspired by the Folk Festival, he started out his show with several songs from his "Morning Phase" record, which was fine with me. Over at the Folk Fest, Jack White was headlining Saturday's show. Earlier in the week I was bemoaning the fact that it would not be possible to see both Beck and Jack White. A clip from "Waking Light": http://youtu.be/9OLGkMt40E4 About midway through the show, the music and energy got more lively. I loved the sample of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". Toward the end of the set, Beck did a James Brown-like piece during "Debra" with Sean Lennon draping Beck in a cape. Good fun. A clip from "Devil's Haircut": http://youtu.be/tAS0ybA9Otg The show closed with "E-Pro", "dying" band members, and Beck closing off the stage with yellow crime scene tape. At the start of the encore, Beck said he had a special guest, who he called "the best bartender in the world". To the audience's delight it was Jack White! The encore lasted for nearly a half hour. The final song "Where It's At" included Lennon joining in on tambourine, and the headliners plus band mates doing a synchronized dance. When did they have time to choreograph and practice? ;-) The show of the year for me so far - and I was able to see both Beck and Jack White on Saturday :-). White doing a solo: "Ensemble" :
