Strider
^^On the subject of applications forms and CVs, what I find is crippling and soul destroying is when you have applied for what it feels like hundreds of jobs and you hear f*** all (sorry) For instance, I had practically sold myself on a application form for a part time job working in a shop that sells wallpaper, no biggie you would have thought. But I pulled all the plugs by putting my heart and soul into that application form. I had even used the tatics that I had learnt from the "Steps to success" getting-back-into-work scheme. That was now over 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard a peep from them, even though it had been hand delivered into the shop and I had caught the guy (I guess the owner) opening the letter. I do understand if there is only say for talk sake, 1 opening...and you get hundreds applying......but this has been happening to me for the last 15 whole friggen months while at the same time, I am getting my ear bent by the unemployment office. All I am asking/begging is a chance to get some sort of work as there is only so much that I can take (and my health and family around me is starting to suffer). The whole thing is a joke or should I say "a roundabout of shittiness that I can't escape from" Sorry for going off on one, but I think that I would get some form of decent reply rather than being ignored by so-called friends on Facebook who rather prefer doing duck poses in front of toilet mirrors or endless photos of dribbling kids. I hear plenty of similar rage from others I know who are unemployed and seemingly over-qualified for the majority of jobs they apply for. Rather than hire them, most employers go out and hire illegal immigrants because they know they can get away with paying them less and treating them like shit. That was from Santander (at least I got a response) At least you did get a reply, even if was to be turned down. I have applied for.....I dunno, as I have now lost count and it is soul destroying when you hear sod all from anyone or anything. And the longer it goes, the more depressed you get and you begin to blame yourself. And that is what is happening to me at the moment There was a job that I had applied for a few weeks back, the job was a part time sales assistant in a wallpaper shop. I called in two days ago to see what was going on and if they had filled that post, only to be told that "he was doing interviews right now and had short listed the candidates"....in other words, I didn't get it, and you tend to get a little on the fed up side when someone says "Oh maybe it wasn't for you" or whatever the case. I just hope that a few people here and myself get a little bit of luck and hope.

paul carruthers
^^ My condolences about your Uncle, Andy. Also sorry to hear about your own injuries. I know what a fibula is but a peroneal tendon is a new one to me. I did click on the link you provided, though. Hopefully, you'll recover soon. If you need to chew the fat, I'm here for you.... After all we deserve it.I would tell you to keep your chin up, but I can't even do that myself. It feels like every time I apply for a job I am going to be refused anyway. Keep trying SozoZoso. chillumpuffer
Another 5 years of Tory bollocks. The rich will get richer the poor will starve. The South will prosper as the North will be a forgotten land of hardship. The NHS will be even worse off as Cameron channels the money to pay for the rich who will benefit from lower tax breaks for them. I may as well move to Scotland

SozoZoso
^^5 more years....oh Lord help us.... Over here in not-so-sunny Northern Ireland, the DUP have got in as well (they're basically a Tory extension) Another thing is, which people are they gonna target for future cuts? I mean the disabled, poor etc have already been bled dry, some have even taken thier own lives over the head of it all. The whole thing makes me shudder. Electrophile
This weather is pissing me off. We can't turn the AC on until we have the units serviced, so while it's plenty nice at night when the temperature finally drops, during the day, the upstairs feels like a sauna. It's too damn early for this shit.

SozoZoso
Apologies if this quickly turns into a rant, but I'm sick to the back teeth of applying for jobs that have been either filled already or battling against 1000 other applicants and not having a hope in seven hells of ever getting a job. My time is now consiting of looking around for jobs (or scrounging as I now call it)...both online and skulking around shops/factories like Madonna at an African orphanage. When I'm not doing this, I'm either doing chores or listening to my semi retired father snoring his head off in the corner of the room. I am fed up of blaming myself for not able to get a job, fed up with those words "oh, you'll get something in the end" or whatever the case else and fed up of feeling like a failure. Oh and to stick the boot in further, I was EVEN unlucky to get a part time job shovelling donkey sh!t at a animal sanctuary. "Thank you for your application for the role of Centre Assistant/Groom at our Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Belfast. Applications are now back from short listing. The vacancy drew a considerable response, and unfortunately on this occasion, you have been unsuccessful and we will not be progressing any further with your application. We appreciate the effort and time you have put into the application." I'm currently typing this out with "Over the hills andfar away" playing through my headphones, which is exactly where I wanna be right now.
