James McGregor Posted September 25, 2008 Share Posted September 25, 2008 well i really hope its myles kennedy. i watched the vid on their myspace, and i think hes a great singer. i cant wait to hear he and jason singing together, and with jimmys guitar and jonesys bass.........OMG i think this band would be HUGE! female singer? NO WAY! backing vocals maybe, but lead? no thanks! i agree he doesnt need to sound like robert, esp if there is new material. they will create a new sound. its gonna really make people sit up and take notice, imo. does kennedy write lyrics??? Just checked out Myles Kennedy and I don't think he would fit Zeppelin. Maybe Pearl Jam or Creed or something like that. Maybe new stuff but definately not Zep material. Which puts him back in the fold, right? And what about the publishing - lots of money there, I'm sure. And is airplay from the original recordings a revenue stream for Plant, or not? In terms of 1/4 interest, doesn't that mean that individually (or as Bonham's heirs) each has the right of veto? In that case, Page, Jones and Bonham would HAVE to call themselves something other than Led Zeppelin, right? Does Plant pay the other three when he performs from the back catalog, and, would they have to pay him when they do the same? Or, like Plant changes the music but not the lyrics, could they change the lyrics but not the music, and not pay? Or is it professional and personal courtesy for them all to just have at it without fussing about such things? My head hurts. Unless he chooses not to use his Power of Veto. (sorry, I couldn't resist throwing some Big Brother terminology in here.......which should give you some idea of how knowledgable I am on legal matters.) I want to see a distinct individual who can bring whatever new he can bring to the table or make the original LZ music his own, re-worked perhaps. I don't need to hear the original LZ music verbatim. this is not going to be a tribute band, it's the real thing, therefore I think they should go ahead and produce a new name. no one can replace Robert and I'm not saying that anyone is trying to but those are probably big shoes to fill. I'd be very happy just to see Jimmy and for that matter JPJ and Jason. Can't wait to here the new stuff. I write lyrics if they need a song! Re Ninelives quote ..."it has to mean something to him (Robert), challenge and move him"... yes, I think he needs his mind moved. as a Poet, his lyrics have a certain metaphorical genius which will be missed in the new stuff alongside Jimmy's compositions but I'll wait and see. [apology section] re the new reunion rumour and Robert's subsequent rebuttal posted by Sam. I read all the topics and threads this morning then made a new topic. I thought I misplaced the topic and so posted it under another thread. the Mods directed me to read. I went back and yes I had read the dates wrong. I then looked under the "Help" Section to find out how I could remove my posts but couldn't find an entry. but looks like the posts have been purged.
